It has been recognised that dancing is one of the many ways to great health and happiness. I am an  experienced and passionate Ballroom Dance instructor/dancer. In the 20 years I have been ballroom dancing I have come to recognise the many benefits of incorporating dancing in our daily lives. My students have always been happiest when they are dancing, it has brought them a lot of joy,  helps build their confidence and dance events/parties have provided a very relax and enjoyable setting to meet like-minded people who they have formed close friendship with – all these in turn improve their physical well being. I would like to share these benefits with the Isbourne Centre users.

 

FitLines is an exercise routine with a combination of basic Ballroom Dance techniques and QiGong.

 

QiGong is an ancient Chinese exercise which incorporates deep breathing techniques and fluid movements of the body to enhance the flow of the Qi (energy).  

The dance steps I am teaching includes Ballroom, Latin, Bachata, Kizomba, Salsa, Argentine Tango, French Jive, Rock & Roll and Jazz Jive. I will mix and match the dance routine to keep my class fresh and interesting.

 

I use the QiGong as a warm up (at the beginning of the class) and cool down (at the end of the class).  I believe the combination of Ballroom Dance and QiGong provides the most effective way to improve one's Chi (through deep mindful breathing and movements in QiGong) and the dances provide the most enjoyable way to improve mobility, flexibility, memory and confidence.

 

The dance steps are fun, simple and easy to follow which makes it accessible to people of all ages and ability. Each dance routine is around 3 – 5 minutes which will ultimately raise the heart rate and encourages the “happy hormone” serotonin. This is especially beneficial as a stress reducer.

 

My class has the perfect ingredients for anyone interested in the wellbeing of the mind, body and spirit. It is ideal for office workers to break up the routine and stretch out from sitting in front of the computer all day long.  The casual nature of the classes together with my friendly and fun-loving personality, you will be sure to enjoy yourself ! In addition to that, the social interaction will help in building one's confidence,  and allowing people to relax and simply enjoy themselves.
